FAQ

Is acupuncture painful?

Not at all. We use ultra-fine needles, about the thickness of a human hair, so most people feel little to no pain—often comparable to a mosquito bite.

Is moxibustion too hot?

No. The heat is carefully adjusted to provide a gentle, comfortable warmth. The risk of burns is extremely low.

What conditions can acupuncture help with?

Acupuncture can help with a wide range of conditions, including neck and shoulder stiffness, lower back pain, headaches, dizziness, tinnitus, insomnia, autonomic nervous system imbalance, and women’s health concerns.

How long does each treatment take?

Your first visit, including consultation, typically takes 60–90 minutes. Follow-up treatments usually take about 50 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of treatments depends on your condition and overall health. Acute pain may improve within a few sessions, while chronic conditions often benefit from weekly treatments over several months.

Are there any side effects?

Some people may experience temporary fatigue or drowsiness after treatment. These reactions are usually mild and resolve naturally.

Does insurance cover acupuncture?

In Japan, acupuncture may be covered by health insurance for certain conditions with a physician’s referral. Please contact us for details.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing is recommended. Treatment gowns may also be available at our clinic.

Are the needles reused?

No. We use sterile, single-use disposable needles for every treatment.

Is there any risk of infection?

No. All needles are sterilized, individually packaged, and disposed of after a single use.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes. All treatments are performed by a nationally licensed acupuncturist with professional training in anatomy and physiology.

Can I receive treatment during pregnancy?

Yes. Acupuncture may help relieve pregnancy-related discomforts such as morning sickness, lower back pain, and breech presentation after the stable stage of pregnancy. Please consult us before your visit.

Can children or older adults receive treatment?

Yes. We adjust the treatment according to each patient’s age and physical condition, making it suitable for people of all ages.

Can I take a bath after treatment?

Yes, but we recommend avoiding long hot baths and strenuous exercise on the day of your treatment. A short, relaxing bath is perfectly fine.

How often should I receive treatment?

For more severe symptoms, we usually recommend one or two sessions per week. Once your condition improves, monthly maintenance treatments are often sufficient.

Can I drink alcohol after treatment?

We recommend avoiding alcohol on the day of your treatment, as acupuncture may increase blood circulation.

How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture stimulates specific points on the body to improve circulation, regulate the nervous system, and enhance the body’s natural healing ability.

Can I receive acupuncture while seeing a doctor?

Yes. Acupuncture can be used alongside conventional medical treatment and does not interfere with your doctor’s care.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. We operate by appointment only. Please book your visit by phone or through our online reservation system.

What types of patients do you treat?

We welcome patients of all ages, including office workers with neck and back pain, people experiencing dizziness or insomnia, athletes, and pregnant women.
